About ChatMRS

1. Purpose of the Platform

ChatMRS is an online tool developed to support caregiver- and family-reported assessment of the Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) for post-stroke patients. The Platform uses a structured decision algorithm to generate a preliminary estimate of functional disability.

The Platform is intended exclusively for:

• Educational and informational purposes
• Clinical research and quality-improvement initiatives
• Remote monitoring and caregiver engagement
• Complementary functional assessments

ChatMRS is not a medical device and does not replace clinician-performed neurological evaluation or formal mRS adjudication.

2. No Medical Advice or Clinical Diagnosis

By using the Platform, users acknowledge that:

1. ChatMRS does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
2. The mRS estimate generated is algorithm-derived and may be incomplete or inaccurate.
3. Use of the Platform does not establish a physician–patient or clinician–patient relationship.
4. Clinical or therapeutic decisions must not be based solely on ChatMRS results.
5. Professional clinical evaluation remains the only valid method for mRS determination.

If medical concerns arise, users must seek appropriate evaluation from a qualified healthcare provider.

3. User Responsibilities

Users agree to the following obligations:

• Provide accurate, honest, and complete information when answering the questionnaire.
• Understand that ChatMRS yields only a preliminary and supportive score.
• Exercise independent clinical judgment (for clinicians) and avoid relying solely on Platform outputs.
• Use the Platform only in compliance with laws, privacy regulations, and institutional policies.
• Seek emergency or professional help when clinically necessary.

All users accept full responsibility for how they interpret or apply the information generated.

4. Accuracy, Limitations, and Scientific Background

While ChatMRS incorporates logic inspired by the validated iRankinScale algorithm, users acknowledge that:

• No algorithmic tool can guarantee full accuracy.
• Caregiver-reported data may introduce variability or misinterpretation.
• The Platform may generate incomplete or inconsistent scores.
• The service is provided “as is,” without warranties, either express or implied.

The scientific validation applies to the original iRankinScale algorithm and not specifically to the ChatMRS digital interface.

5. Data Privacy and Information Handling

ChatMRS is designed with a minimal data footprint. By using the Platform, users acknowledge that:

• The Platform does not store or retain identifiable patient information unless explicitly stated and consented.
• Any temporary processing is used solely to generate the mRS estimate.
• Users are responsible for not entering personal data in violation of privacy laws or institutional rules.
• Data transmission may be encrypted, but no system can guarantee absolute security.

ChatMRS follows data protection principles aligned with LGPD and GDPR, to the extent applicable.

6. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property related to:

• Platform structure and workflow
• Algorithmic adaptations
• Interface and content
• Branding and trademarks

is owned by João Brainer Clares de Andrade, with partial software development by Daniel S. Zaveri.

Any reproduction, distribution, modification, or reverse engineering of the Platform or its components is strictly prohibited.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• ChatMRS, its owner, collaborators, and contributors (including Daniel S. Zaveri) shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from Platform use.
• No responsibility is assumed for clinical decisions, patient outcomes, or actions taken based on the Platform’s outputs.
• Users accept all risks associated with using preliminary algorithm-derived estimates.

If you do not agree with these limitations, you must discontinue use of the Platform.

8. Modifications to Terms or Platform

We may revise or update these Terms of Use, as well as Platform functionalities, at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, without regard to conflicts-of-law principles. Users agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of Brazilian courts for all disputes arising from Platform use.

10. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ChatMRS, you confirm that you:

• Have read and understood these Terms;
• Agree to all disclaimers, responsibilities, and limitations;
• Accept that ChatMRS is supportive only and not a substitute for medical care.

If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the Platform.
